Momiji Nishiya was born on August 30, 2007, in Osaka, Japan. She began skateboarding at a very young age and quickly rose through Japan’s competitive skateboarding scene. By her early teens, she was already competing at international events, showcasing remarkable technical skill, creativity, and composure under pressure. Her historic Olympic victory in Tokyo 2020 at age 13 made her the youngest Olympic gold medalist for Japan and the third youngest overall in Olympic history.
