The Auckland Hearts trace their roots back to the very early days of women's cricket in New Zealand. The first recorded match involving an Auckland women's side dates to 1935, when they played against an England touring side - marking the team's inclusion in the earliest domestic women's cricket history. Since then, Hearts have been a dominant force in domestic women's cricket. They began competing in the Hallyburton Johnstone Shield from its early editions (mid‑1930s) and secured their first Shield title in 1939-40. Over decades, they have built strong club and grassroots structures within Auckland - under the auspices of the Auckland Cricket Association (ACA) — which have nurtured talented players, some of whom progressed to national and international levels.
