The visuals

Expert Rating
The visuals
Positives:
  • Visually, the Aerox hasn’t changed much and still stands out with its sporty, youthful, and distinctive design compared to the more traditional “family” scooters. Its twin LED headlights with LED DRL brows, the X-shaped central spine, and the sleek sportbike-inspired tail section featuring a slim LED strip contribute to its dynamic maxi-scooter appeal. Even after nearly three years in the market, the Aerox retains a fresh and modern look.
  • One way to identify this model is the ‘Version S’ badge on the central spine. I particularly like the blue color option, and overall, the scooter’s fit and finish are impressive, except for a few plastic parts like the fuel cap cover, which feel a bit less refined.

The package
Positives:
  • The Aerox Version S comes equipped with a smart key system, similar to what you'd find on premium two-wheelers. Instead of a traditional keyhole, there’s a rotary knob that lets you control the ignition, open the seat, or access the fuel filler cap—all without needing to remove the key fob from your pocket. This feature significantly boosts rider convenience by streamlining everyday interactions with the scooter.
  • Under the bodywork, the Aerox 155 is powered by a 155cc, liquid-cooled, single-cylinder engine that produces 15 bhp and 13.9 Nm of torque. The engine is now E20 fuel-compatible and paired with a smooth CVT for seamless power delivery.
  • The reverse LCD instrument cluster offers Bluetooth connectivity and displays a wealth of information. However, the screen’s brightness leaves room for improvement, as it can be hard to read under direct sunlight.
  • On the practicality front, Yamaha could enhance the Aerox further by including a rear brake lock and a lockable glove box—both of which would improve safety and rider convenience.
  • That said, the overall ride experience remains a strong point. The recent updates were much-needed, and they’ve helped the Aerox stay relevant and enjoyable in its segment.

The Ride

Expert Rating
The Ride
Positives:
  • Let’s be clear—the Aerox 155’s engine is an absolute standout. It revs freely, feels punchy, and delivers impressive refinement. Only near the redline does a slight buzz creep into the floorboard and handlebars, but that's a minor nitpick. At city cruising speeds or even 100 km/h on the highway, the motor remains buttery smooth and eager. Quick overtakes or darting off from traffic lights are thrilling, making it one of the most fun scooters to ride.
  • However, since its launch, the Aerox 155 has faced criticism for its stiff rear suspension. Yamaha has responded in the Version S by softening the setup. At urban speeds (50–60 km/h), the ride feels more compliant, with the rear now absorbing bumps and road imperfections better than before. That said, the front suspension still crashes through medium-sized potholes, and some may find the rear spring's rebound slightly too quick.
  • Thankfully, these suspension tweaks haven’t compromised the Aerox’s sharp handling. It still feels planted through corners, and the new Ceat tyres provide ample grip. Overall, comfort has improved without sacrificing the scooter’s sporty character.
  • Braking, however, could use an upgrade. The front disc and rear drum setup is serviceable but lacks strong bite and feedback. A rear disc brake would be a welcome addition. Still, the inclusion of single-channel ABS is reassuring.
  • What truly sets the Aerox apart is the presence of traction control. While some may see it as overkill on a 15 bhp scooter, it’s a valuable safety feature—especially on unpredictable Indian roads with gravel, sand, and wet patches. It’s the kind of backup you’ll be glad to have.
