Gemini Ganesan was born in Pudukottai on November 17, 1920, with his real name being Ramasamy Ganesan. He was referred to as Kadhal Mannan (King of Romance) for his romantic roles in films. Ganesan was also popular like MGR and Sivaji Ganesan; while Sivaji Ganesan excelled in dramatic films and M. G. Ramachandran was popular as an action hero, Gemini Ganesan was known for his romantic films. In 1971, the Government of India honored him with the Padma Shri, and he also won many awards like the Filmfare Award for Best Tamil Actor, the Tamil Nadu State Film Honorary Award, and the MGR Gold Medal. Miss Malini is the first film of Gemini Ganesan. In 1959, Kalathur Kannamma was the debut movie for Kamal Haasan as a child, and the movie's hero was Gemini Ganesan. Ganesan worked as a lecturer in the Chemistry department of Madras Christian College.
