Sathyaraj (Rangaraj Subbiah) was born on 3 October 1954 in Gandhipuram, Coimbatore, Madras State. He is a famous Indian actor who mainly works in Tamil cinema and has also worked in Malayalam, Telugu, Kannada, and Hindi movies. He started his career in the drama troupe of Komal Swamynathan, and Sattam En Kaiyil is the first movie of his, which was released in 1978 and directed by T. R. Ramanna. In 1985, the crime thriller Saavi, written and directed by Karthik Raghunath, was the first film in which Sathyaraj acted as a hero. From 1978 to 1985, Sathyaraj acted in 75 films, most of which featured him in negative roles. Sathyaraj's son, Sibi Sathyaraj, is also a Tamil actor, and he has acted with his son in four movies. In 2015, in Baahubali: The Beginning, Sathyaraj acted as "Kattappa," which made him very popular in Indian cinema. Sathyaraj and Rajinikanth will reunite after 38 years for Lokesh Kanagaraj's Coolie (2025), and they last acted together in the 1986 film Mr. Bharath.
