Pakistan Government’s X Account Withheld in India After Pahalgam Attack

New Delhi, April 2025: In a strong diplomatic move following the brutal Pahalgam terror attack, the Government of India has withheld access to the official X (formerly Twitter) account of the Pakistan government within Indian territory. The suspension marks another firm stance by India against what it alleges are Pakistan-backed terrorist activities.

The action follows the killing of 26 civilians, including a Nepali national, in one of the deadliest terror incidents in Kashmir in over 25 years. India has held Pakistan responsible for allowing terror networks to operate across the border and carry out such attacks.

In addition to the X account ban, India has suspended the Indus Waters Treaty, downgraded diplomatic ties, and closed the Attari Integrated Check Post—a key border transit point. All SAARC Visa Exemption Scheme (SVES) access for Pakistani nationals has been revoked.

The decisions were taken during a high-level meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Security (CCS) chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Sources confirmed the CCS is considering further measures to tighten cross-border security and isolate Pakistan diplomatically.

Tensions continue to rise as the region braces for a period of heightened diplomatic and military alert.
