Born on March 20, 1987, in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India, Haricharan hails from a musically rich family and began learning Carnatic music at a very young age. He made his playback debut with the Tamil film Kaadhal -2004, composed by Joshua Sridhar, with the song "Unakkena Iruppen," which became an instant hit. Since then, Haricharan has sung in Tamil, Malayalam, Telugu, and Kannada films, working with leading composers such as A. R. Rahman, Harris Jayaraj, Yuvan Shankar Raja, and G. V. Prakash Kumar.
