Hyundai Alcazar 1.5 Turbo Petrol AT Long-Term Review: First Impressions
The Hyundai Alcazar 1.5 Turbo Petrol AT Long-Term Review offers an in-depth look at Hyundai’s versatile three-row SUV. Over the past three weeks with the Signature petrol automatic six-seater variant finished in Robust Emerald, this vehicle has proven to be a compelling contender for families seeking a “do-it-all” SUV. From daily commutes to weekend getaways, the Alcazar promises practicality, comfort, and refinement in a single package.
Transitioning from my previous long-term test of the Hyundai Creta diesel manual, the switch to a petrol automatic with turbocharging is refreshing. While I occasionally miss the diesel’s torque and fuel efficiency on extended highway drives, the Alcazar’s turbo petrol engine delivers a smooth, refined experience for daily traffic, making city driving less stressful and more enjoyable.

First Impressions and Comfort
One of the Alcazar’s strongest points is its added versatility. The six-seat layout with captain seats in the middle row provides ample space and comfort for passengers, especially on long drives. Folding down the third row dramatically increases boot capacity, making it perfect for family trips or transporting larger loads. The combination of refined interiors and smart seating configurations elevates the Alcazar above typical compact SUVs.
Performance and Drivetrain
The turbocharged 1.5-litre petrol engine paired with a smooth automatic transmission ensures effortless city commuting and confident highway performance. The drivetrain provides linear acceleration and refinement, allowing for stress-free driving in stop-and-go traffic. While it cannot match the diesel’s torque for towing or long-haul efficiency, the petrol setup is well-suited for urban mobility without compromising on comfort.
Interior Features and Technology
The Signature variant comes equipped with top-of-the-line features, including ventilated seats for front and middle rows, dual-zone climate control, fold-down tray tables, a panoramic sunroof, and a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system. Level 2 ADAS adds an extra layer of safety with blind spot monitoring, lane keeping assist, and other driver aids. These features are particularly useful in day-to-day driving, enhancing comfort and convenience.
Real-World Usability
In the three weeks of usage, the Alcazar’s practicality has been apparent. The third row is ideal for occasional passengers, while the ample boot space is a lifesaver during grocery runs and weekend trips. Features like ventilated seats and a robust climate control system make it comfortable even on hot days. Blind spot monitoring and other ADAS features enhance safety, making city and highway driving less stressful.
What to Expect Next
The upcoming weeks will focus on deeper insights into fuel efficiency in real-world conditions, comfort across varying road surfaces, and the Alcazar’s performance as a true all-rounder family SUV. Tracking long-term usability and convenience features will reveal whether this turbo petrol automatic variant justifies its Rs. 25 lakh price tag for families seeking a versatile and premium three-row vehicle.
