Government Arts and Science College, Nagercoil, was established in 2016 to provide higher education opportunities to students in Kanyakumari district. Announced by former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Dr. J. Jayalalithaa during the 2015–16 academic session, the college began operations in a temporary location with undergraduate programs in English, Economics, and Commerce. In 2017, a permanent campus was constructed on 4 acres of land within the Government Polytechnic College premises and inaugurated by Chief Minister Edappadi K. Palaniswami. Over the years, the college expanded its academic offerings to include Science, Humanities, and Business Administration courses. The institution is committed to academic excellence, career development, and holistic education through various clubs, placement cells, and student welfare programs.
