His performances at school level paved the way for his entry into competitive domestic cricket.

First-Class Debut at a Young Age

At just 15 years old, he made his first-class debut during the 1954-55 season of the Ranji Trophy. Representing the Hyderabad cricket team, he played against the Andhra cricket team.Despite being extremely young, Jaisimha impressed everyone in his debut match. He scored an impressive 90 runs with the bat and also contributed with the ball by taking three wickets while conceding 51 runs. This strong performance immediately signaled his potential as a future star in Indian cricket.His debut was not just notable because of his age, but also because of his maturity on the field. Rise in Domestic Cricket

One of Jaisimha's most memorable achievements came during the 1959-60 series against Australia national cricket team in Kolkata.In that Test match, he accomplished a rare feat by batting on all five days of the match. He began his innings late on the first day and remained not out overnight. On the following days, he continued batting in both innings, eventually scoring 74 runs.This performance made him the first cricketer in Test history to bat on every single day of a five-day match. The achievement remains one of the most unusual records in the sport.

Memorable Innings Against Pakistan

Another remarkable moment in Jaisimha's career occurred during a Test match against the Pakistan national cricket team in Kanpur.In that match, he played an incredibly patient innings that lasted 505 minutes. During this time he scored 99 runs while batting throughout an entire day of the match.Ironically, his innings ended when he attempted a quick single to complete his century but was dismissed. Despite missing the milestone by one run, the innings was widely praised for its endurance and determination.

Transformation into an Opening Batsman

As his career progressed, Jaisimha adapted his role within the Indian team. Initially a middle-order batsman, he later moved to the opening position. This change happened partly because established opener Pankaj Roy was nearing the end of his career.As an opener, Jaisimha produced several impressive performances. He scored Test centuries against England during the 1961-62 and 1963-64 series. Another significant innings came in 1964-65 when he scored 134 runs against Sri Lanka national cricket team, then known as Ceylon.During the 1963-64 series against England, he accumulated 444 runs, which was one of the best performances by an Indian batsman in that series.

Domestic Leadership and Achievements

Apart from international cricket, Jaisimha had a long and successful domestic career. He represented Hyderabad for more than two decades from 1955 to 1976.He also captained the Hyderabad team for 16 seasons and led the side in 76 matches. Return to the National Team

S. Chandrasekhar created an opportunity for him to rejoin the team.He was flown to Australia and immediately included in the Third Test. Final Test Series
