The Tamilaga Vetri Kazhagam (TVK), founded by popular actor-turned-politician Vijay, is gearing up for its highly anticipated 2nd state convention, known as TVK Maanadu, in Parapathi near Madurai today. As Vijay intensifies his efforts towards the 2026 Tamil Nadu assembly elections, the TVK state convention promises to be a massive gathering of volunteers and supporters. From extensive stage setups to comprehensive volunteer amenities, the preparations for the TVK Maanadu highlight the party's commitment to organization and public engagement in Tamil Nadu politics.
The TVK state convention venue spans approximately 200 acres, designed to accommodate around 1.5 lakh volunteers comfortably. The main conference stage measures an impressive 200 feet in length and 60 feet in width, serving as the focal point for speeches and activities during the TVK Maanadu. Organizers have installed seating arrangements across the vast area, ensuring that attendees from various districts can participate seamlessly in this pivotal Tamilaga Vetri Kazhagam event.
To enhance efficiency, a QR code system has been implemented at the entrance of each gallery. This innovative feature allows volunteers to register their attendance quickly and receive certificates, streamlining operations at the TVK Maanadu. Such technological integrations underscore Vijay's vision for a modern and organized Tamil Nadu Victory Party.
Prioritizing the comfort of participants, the TVK preparations include extensive provisions for basic needs. Purified drinking water is supplied through pipes installed in all galleries, ensuring hydration for the large crowd expected at the Madurai conference. Temporary toilets and medical camps have also been established to handle any emergencies during the TVK state convention.
In a thoughtful gesture, 5 lakh snack packs have been prepared for distribution among volunteers. Each pack contains essentials like drinking water, biscuits, mixer, and glucose, with water bottles featuring stickers proclaiming "People's Choice Chief Ministerial Candidate Vijay." This branding reinforces Vijay's position in Tamil Nadu politics and his aspirations for the 2026 elections through the Tamilaga Vetri Kazhagam.
For outstation volunteers, arrangements ensure three meals—breakfast, lunch, and dinner—are provided. District secretaries have been directed to coordinate food distribution in vehicles, making the TVK Maanadu accessible and convenient for all attendees traveling to Parapathi near Madurai.
To invoke blessings for a successful event, monks conducted a special yagna yesterday morning at the TVK Maanadu site. However, shortly after, an incident occurred during the erection of a 100-foot flagpole. While using a giant crane, the support belt broke, causing the flagpole to fall and damage a parked car by shattering its windows. Fortunately, no injuries were reported as the area was restricted, and the car was unoccupied.
TVK Deputy General Secretary Nirmal Kumar addressed the flagpole incident, describing it as a minor mishap in the context of the large-scale TVK preparations. He emphasized that public access was prohibited in the area, and no untoward events affected attendees. A new flagpole was promptly installed in the evening, keeping the Tamilaga Vetri Kazhagam conference on track.
Nirmal Kumar further noted, "This is a normal accident in such a big conference. The work for the TVK Maanadu has been done on 250 acres, and we expect more than 10 lakh people. Vijay is personally checking all arrangements, including 8,000 meters of water pipes for drinking water."
Anticipating a massive turnout, security has been ramped up at the TVK Maanadu venue. Approximately 3,500 police officers are deployed to maintain order and safety. Additionally, the Tamilaga Vetri Kazhagam has arranged for 2,000 bouncers, including 500 female bouncers, to handle internal security needs.
As volunteers began arriving yesterday evening, the entire conference ground was lit up with colorful lights, creating a vibrant atmosphere for the TVK state convention. These measures reflect the party's preparedness for a smooth and secure event in Parapathi near Madurai.
Vijay, transitioning from cinema to politics, launched the Tamilaga Vetri Kazhagam earlier this year, with the first state convention held in Vikravandi. The ongoing TVK Maanadu in Madurai marks a significant step in building momentum for the 2026 Tamil Nadu assembly elections. Vijay's active involvement in overseeing preparations demonstrates his dedication to establishing TVK as a formidable force in Tamil Nadu politics.
With expectations of over 10 lakh participants, the 2nd TVK state convention is poised to showcase the party's growing support base. From drinking bottles with motivational stickers to robust bouncer deployments, every aspect of the TVK preparations has been meticulously planned to ensure a memorable and impactful event.
