TN Weather Today: Important Update from IMD

Tamil Nadu Weather Forecast Today

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has released a crucial weather forecast for Tamil Nadu, indicating the possibility of light to moderate rain across several regions. According to the latest statement, an atmospheric circulation is prevailing over South India, while a low-pressure area has formed over the Northeast-Southeast Arabian Sea near the South Gujarat and North Kerala coasts. This system is likely to bring rainfall to Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Karaikal today.

Chennai Weather Update

In Chennai and its suburbs, the sky will remain partly cloudy with chances of light rain in some areas. The maximum temperature is expected to be around 34–35° Celsius, while the minimum temperature may remain close to 27° Celsius. This brings much-needed relief to residents who have been experiencing warm and humid conditions over the past week.

Fishermen Alert and Sea Conditions

The IMD has issued a strict warning to fishermen due to rough sea conditions in multiple coastal regions. The North Konkan coast and adjoining central-east Arabian Sea are expected to witness cyclonic winds reaching speeds of 50 to 60 kmph, with gusts up to 70 kmph. Similarly, the South Konkan-Goa coast, Karnataka coast, and parts of the southwest Arabian Sea may also experience strong winds up to 65 kmph.

The Meteorological Department has advised fishermen to avoid venturing into the South Tamil Nadu coastal areas, the Gulf of Mannar, the Kumari Sea, and large portions of the Bay of Bengal due to dangerous weather conditions. Fishermen from North Andhra Pradesh, Odisha, and surrounding regions have also been urged to stay ashore.

Tamil Nadu Rainfall Forecast

Several districts across Tamil Nadu are expected to receive light to moderate rainfall. The presence of an atmospheric circulation and low-pressure system is likely to enhance rainfall activity, especially in southern and coastal regions. Residents of Puducherry and Karaikal should also prepare for wet weather conditions today.

With the monsoon activity gradually strengthening, the IMD continues to monitor the evolving weather systems in the Arabian Sea and Bay of Bengal. Citizens are advised to stay updated with official weather bulletins and follow safety precautions.
