The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has launched surprise raids at five locations across Dindigul district in connection with the murder of Ramalingam from Papanasam. The operations, which began early in the morning, are focused on gathering evidence and apprehending suspects linked to this high-profile case.
Ramalingam, a former PMK executive from Thiruphuvanam, Thanjavur district, was tragically murdered for intervening in illegal religious conversion attempts by members of Islamic organizations such as the Popular Front of India and the Indian Social Democratic Party. The incident occurred on February 5, 2019, and has been under investigation by the NIA since a case was registered in connection with this heinous crime.
The ongoing NIA raids are taking place in key locations including Jinnah Nagar in Begumpur, Ottanchathram, Nilakottai, Dindigul, and Kodaikanal. The agency has intensified its search operations following the arrests of 12 suspects connected to the case. These raids aim to uncover additional evidence and ensure that all parties involved in Ramalingam’s murder are brought to justice.
At the Jinnah Nagar area of Begumpur, Dindigul, the NIA is conducting a detailed search at the residence of Sheikh Abdullah, a member of the STBI party. Similarly, in Ottanchathram, officers are inspecting the house of Yusuf. Each location is being searched by a team of three NIA officers, and local police personnel are present to ensure safety and maintain order during the operations.
This is not the first time the NIA has conducted operations in the region. Raids in Kodaikanal were carried out four months ago. The current searches at five separate locations, including Ottanchathram, Nilakottai, Dindigul, and Kodaikanal, have heightened tension in the district as authorities attempt to secure critical evidence and apprehend any remaining suspects linked to the Ramalingam murder case.
The NIA raids have created a sense of urgency and concern among local residents. Police support during these operations ensures the safety of citizens while the agency continues its investigation. Authorities have urged people in affected areas to cooperate with officials and maintain calm as the searches progress throughout the day.
The NIA’s ongoing investigation into Ramalingam’s murder highlights the complexity of the case, which involves religious conversion attempts and political rivalries. These surprise raids are part of a broader strategy to ensure that justice is served and all individuals involved are held accountable under the law. Local authorities remain on high alert as the operations continue.
