Pahalgam Attack: India Suspends Visas for Pakistani Nationals

In a decisive move following the deadly terror attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, the Government of India has suspended all visa services for Pakistani nationals with immediate effect. The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) also announced that all valid visas will be revoked from April 27, 2025, urging Pakistani nationals in India to leave the country.

“All Pakistani nationals currently in India must exit before their amended visa deadline,” stated the MEA, following directives from the Cabinet Committee on Security. Medical visas will be honored only until April 29, 2025.

The Indian government has also strongly advised its citizens against traveling to Pakistan. “Indian nationals are advised to return home immediately if currently in Pakistan,” the statement emphasized.

This comes as part of a broader response after 26 people—mostly tourists—were brutally gunned down by terrorists in the Baisaran area near Pahalgam. In an additional measure, India has also suspended its participation in the Indus Waters Treaty with Pakistan.
