Vinu Chakravarthy was a legendary Indian actor, writer, and director in Tamil cinema, celebrated for his powerful voice and versatile performances. Over a career spanning four decades, he appeared in more than 1,000 films across Tamil, Malayalam, Telugu, and Kannada languages. Beginning his career as a scriptwriter under director Puttanna Kanagal, he made his acting debut with Parasangada Gendetimma (1977) and went on to play memorable roles in films like Rosappu Ravikkaikari, Gopurangal Saivathillai, Guru Sishyan, and Muni. Born in Usilampatti, Madurai, Tamil Nadu, Vinu Chakravarthy is also remembered for introducing Silk Smitha to Tamil cinema through Vandichakkaram. His unique dialogue delivery, strong screen presence, and ability to perform villainous, comedic, and character roles made him one of the most respected and prolific actors in South Indian cinema.
