M V Rajamma was a pioneering Indian actress and singer in South Indian cinema. She started her career in theatre and made her film debut in 1936. Known for her powerful performances in Kannada Tamil Telugu and Hindi films she appeared in over 150 movies including Bhakta Dhruva Hemareddy Mallamma Satya Harishchandra Cheluva Rani and Subhadra. M V Rajamma was among the first women in Kannada cinema to produce and direct films and became a trailblazer for women in the industry. She was celebrated for her portrayals of heroic and dramatic female characters and is remembered as the first lady of Kannada cinema. Show less
