Jayanthi was a highly respected Indian actress who made an enduring mark in South Indian cinema. She worked across Kannada, Tamil, Telugu, and Malayalam films and earned the title Abhinaya Sharadhe meaning Goddess of Acting in the Kannada industry. Born in Ballari Karnataka she began her acting career in the 1960s and went on to appear in more than 500 films. Jayanthi was known for her strong screen presence, expressive performances, and graceful portrayals of both leading and supporting roles. Some of her most acclaimed films include Miss Leelavathi, Edakallu Guddada Mele, Sri Krishnadevaraya, and Chandavalliya Thota.
