E. Ramdoss was a distinguished Indian film director, screenwriter and actor who predominantly worked in the Tamil film industry. He made his directorial debut with Aayiram Pookkal Malarattum in 1986 and went on to direct films such as Raaja Raajathan 1989, Ravanan 1994 and Vaazhga Jananayagam 1996. Later in his career he appeared as an actor in notable films such as Vasool Raja MBBS 2004 and Vikram Vedha 2017.
E.Ramdoss was born in Villupuram, Tamil Nadu. In late 1979 he moved to Mylapore, Chennai to pursue a career in Tamil cinema. He first worked as a screenwriter for Enakkaga Kaathiru 1981 and then served as an assistant director to filmmaker Manivannan for several films. His directorial debut Aayiram Pookkal Malarattum 1986 became commercially successful, followed by other directorial ventures. Subsequently he shifted more into acting, often portraying character roles such as a police officer in films like Yuddham Sei 2011, Kaaki Sattai 2015, Visaranai 2016 and Vikram Vedha 2017. He passed away on 23 January 2023 due to a cardiac arrest.
