Ashwath Marimuthu is Known for his killer romantic-comedy debut Oh My Kadavule, which honestly hit me right in the feels, and made us think like wonderful, this guy had got fresh ideas, youthful energy, and he is not afraid to take risks with storytelling. He went to Montfort School - that serious, fancy boarding school thing where he probably honed those skills in tennis, public speaking and building confidence that come in handy later. Then came SSN College of Engineering, where he teamed up with his bud and soon-to-be frequent collaborator Pradeep Ranganathan, tinkering with filmmaking while supposedly studying. After a final short film about crushing some deep-seated inferiority complex was a hit with his college mates, he apparently just handed his engineering degree to his parents and took the leap into movies full time - talk about guts! The real explosion happened in 2020 with Oh My Kadavule, that totally charming and unique starring Ashok Selvan and Ritika Singh that not only blew audiences away but got nods from big industry names too. He then doubled down on that success by directing the Telugu remake, Ori Devuda, with Vishwak Sen, in 2022. But 2025? That was the year Dragon came out, directed by Ashwath, featuring his buddy, Pradeep Ranganathan. This film was a beast at the box office, briefly taking the title of highest-grossing Tamil film of the year and finishing up as the second highest.
